This song tells the story of the "Parable of the Lost Son" from Luke 15 in the Bible. More than that, however, is that the real core of the story for this song is about the love of our heavenly father who keeps after us in spite of our rebellion.

Running After Me (music and lyrics by David Dickinson)
Verse 1
I had enough, it’s time to let me be, so I said
I’m leaving tonight.
There ain’t no talkin’ me off this ledge
(alternatively.... "There's no denying, I'm on the edge)
I’m gonna finally take my flight
(alternatively.... "I'm sick and tired of asking why")
Got my whole life in the bag I packed
I didn’t even think twice
I walked out that door and started down that road
Towards what I thought would be paradise
Chorus
(But) He’s running after me, He’s running after me
That’s the love of my father, He’s running after me
Verse 2
Years flew by, I was living the lie
But then I hit the wall
My friends were all gone, fame a flash in the pan
Could not believe I’d lost it all
Then the darkness set in
Livin’ life in the pig pen
I felt a piece of my soul die
Then I cried out why, oh why?
Chorus
Verse 3
One day my eyes were opened, and I said
I want to go home.
All I know is it’s been so long
and I feel so alone.
So I started walking down that dusty road
And then I said “No, that can’t be”
Off in the distance, I saw my father
And He was running after me.
