Thought I needed to write a country song, and I grew up in Washington State (with travels to Oregon and occasionally Idaho). So, this is an ode to the Pacific Northwest.
lyrics
I’m Going Home (lyrics and music by David Dickinson)
Intro… “Oh yeah, I’m going home” (x2).
Verse 1
Mountains, ocean, streams, and trees. Rainbow trout and the honey bees
I can smell my childhood in the breeze, I’m almost home.
Country, city, and in between. I think you know just what I mean
It’s been so long since I’ve seen or thought about home
Chorus
Oh I wanna go home. Where ya never ever feel alone
Oh the sun won’t set in the great Northwest ‘til I’m home
Time to head on home. To the place I call my own
I’ll be doing just fine when I cross that line and I’m home.
(Oh yeah, I’m going home x2)
Verse 2
I’m thinking down home country casserole. You gotta cook it nice and slow.
I only got 3 miles to go ‘till I’m home.
Where the Walla Walla Sweets they grow so nice and tasty. Where the dog-days of summer get ya feeling lazy
Salmon on the grill, Red Hook with a chill, then I’m home
Chorus
Bridge
So many places that call my name
They’ve all got somethin’ but they’re not the same “ No No”
One thing’s on my mind when it starts to roam
I’m day dreamin’ ‘bout home (wanna head on home!)
Chorus (2x)
Yeah I’m going home. Oh yeah I’m going home…..I’m going home (time to head on home)
